How do I create an account to use the WRDS (Wharton Research Data Services; S&P Compustat &CRSP) database?

WRDS (Wharton Research Data Services: S&P Compustat & CRSP) is a library database containing datasets used for research. To use the datasets in WRDS, you must first create an account and have your account approved. To do that, follow these steps:
1. Go to the University Libraries homepage – libraries.coastal.edu
2. Go to Databases A-Z – Browse All Databases
3. Click the letter “W” or scroll down to WRDS: Wharton Research Data Services (S&P Compustat &CRSP)
4. Login with your Coastal Carolina University email and password
5. You will be taken to the WRDS Wharton Research Data Services webpage. Click Register in the top right-hand corner of the page
6. Complete the registration. Use your Coastal Carolina University email address to register.
7. For Subscriber – click the drop-down arrow and scroll to Coastal Carolina University
8. Select user type
9. Click "Register for WRDS"
10. You will receive the following message: "Thank you for starting the registration process. Now, you will need to confirm your email address in order to submit your request to your WRDS Representative. We have sent an email to ‘sduncan1@coastal.edu’ with the link to use to confirm your email. Please check your email to continue with your registration."
11. Check your email. You should receive an email from WRDS – Wharton Research Data Services. Click the link in the email to confirm your email address. The link in the email will only be active for the next 3 days.
12. You will receive the following message: "Email confirmed. You have successfully confirmed your email address. Your account request will be reviewed by a WRDS Representative at your institution. The representative will either approve or deny your request. Please check your email for further instructions.
13. You will also receive an email thanking you for confirming your email address.
14. Once your account has been approved, you will receive an email notification from WRDS stating that your account has been created and you can now login and begin accessing data.
